Every business wants to increase its revenue and to increase revenue they need to acquire more customers.
A fun and productive way to make your online business grow is to showcase your business everywhere.
However, this strategy is good for established businesses. But, it’s still a viable option for the small ones and the startups.
Feet on Street Approach to Acquire More Customers
Just go on the street. By going on the street you may find different pockets of culture that appreciate your offering more than in your current customers.
In fact, many great businesses were built on the road. It can be a great experience and will open you up to many possibilities that you just can’t get staying in one place.
You’ll create new business relationships, new customers and get brand evangelists that you would never find normally sitting comfortably in your air-conditioned offices.
Just take an example of our Indian Political Leaders, they keep sitting in their offices or parliament for the whole five years, but at the time of election they are all on the streets, shaking hands with people, telling them I am a candidate of so and so party and please vote for me.
This way you will be giving a human touch to your customers, and instilling in their hearts more trust and value of your business/brand in their hearts.
This will be an exciting experience for you and your customers as well. You will get to know your customer and their needs much better and your customers will also understand your products, your business, your brand, and your services. This way you can acquire more customers than your competitor.
A Real-Life Example
Let me share a personal life experience with my readers.
I almost daily get 10-12 calls from the telemarketers from different insurance companies to buy Insurance, even they use to offer me very good benefits and all, but I never bought insurance from them.
One day I was coming back home from my office, and I saw a guy standing right in front of my door with few brochures of a new insurance company (mentioning the name of the company is not worth here), he just said hi to me and I also replied him in hi.
After that he said Sir, I will just take your two minutes, and would like to show you an insurance plan which is beneficial for you and your family.
However, I was not in the mood to buy any insurance plan, but since he was standing on my door, so I asked him to come in.
He came in and said that yesterday he has finished his training of advisor. And today is his first day when he is selling insurance. He discussed his plan with me, my wife was listening to us.
And finally, I wrote him a cheque and bought his plan.
So, I am sure that this method works!
Be Somewhat Social to Acquire More Customers
Go to your customers, meet them, start conversations with strangers then you will see how people respond to you positively. And trust me, this adventure can be the start of a small business empire.
Here are a few examples of successful businesses that started out of vehicles:
- Nike the famous shoe brand started out of the car of Phil Knight. And now it is well known worldwide.
- Pangea Organics – They didn’t start out of a car, but a van rather. They sold soap and now have a strong skincare brand.
- Stussy – A lifestyle clothing brand that originated in Laguna Beach, CA. Like Nike, Stussy started out of the car just a few years later.
- A famous music band, it also started on the road, and now it is one of the best bands in the world.
Make a List of Trade Shows
Now, the next thing you need to do is make an itinerary of places and events to go to on your travels. Answer these questions first:
- How long can you be gone?
- How much budget do you have for your trip? Don’t forget the fuel costs.
Next, make a list of tradeshows, meet-ups, and business networking mixers that are on your route. Socialize with people, and let people ask you questions about your business, brand, products, and services.
Even, nowadays, big brands like Samsung are doing roadshows to promote their mobile phones. Even, companies put up their canopies here and there to make people aware of their brand and products.
So, there is nothing boring and wasteful if you are getting on the streets to showcase your brand. Your competitors might be shy not to do so.
Deck Out Your Vehicle
While you’re on the road, you’re going to pass thousands if not hundreds of thousands of automobiles. You might as well turn your car into a billboard for your business.
Here are a few things you should keep in mind before you wrap your vehicle for your adventure tour:
- Focus on Your Domain Name: Consider only using your domain name and forget your business name. Cut out the https://www part as well. Just use yourbusinesname.com. Everyone knows how to use the Internet these days. Also, put up your logo
- Don’t Get too Wild and Decorative: Too many colors and decorations distract people’s attention. Their eyes might get lost in a sea of crazy and incomprehensible artwork.
- Have a Value Proposition: If you’re going to include any other text on your vehicle, let it simply be your value proposition. What’s a short and memorable benefit of doing business with you?
And Bingo!
And, at the last, I would say that try to stick with at least half of your itinerary.
If the trip doesn’t seem like it’s giving you much benefit at first, and you want to get back to the home base. Remember that sometimes it’s the second half of the trip that makes it valuable.
But in the end, you’ll have to make the call to acquire more customers. That’s really what being a good business owner is about: “being able to make good decisions”.
